IVIS-16, Innovation in IT thru “out-of-the-box” hiring.
Having a good family friend with a child diagnosed with Asperger’s*, it was great to see this article ( How hiring people with autism could benefit IT | IT PRO ). Not only can a hire of someone on the autism spectrum help in coding, testing, etc., but if you think game theory (“gamification”) will have business impact in the not too distant future, who better to hire than a “seriously-focused” person with autism?
When considering a hiring model to help with innovation, expand your field of vision re:your work force. For example, when using interns, don’t limit it to college interns and don’t just have your interns work on rote or mundane tasks; who better to explore the possibilities of social networks than a high-schooler?
* For a personal view of Asperger’s read Shonda Schilling’s book http://www.amazon.com/The-Best-Kind-Different-Aspergers/dp/B0076TQKE8
