IVIS-27, Big Three for IT (add Integration to Data and Process)

IVIS-27, Innovation in IT can be spearheaded and sustained if IT has leadership in the 3 pillars of IT going forward (DATA, PROCESS and INTEGRATION).

Next step – INTEGRATION is the 3rd pillar for IT because this is where innovation will be “implemented.”  By understanding/documenting/implementing secure INTEGRATION options for the business, internally and externally, IT creates more value for itself and for the business.

Both DATA and PROCESS have been mentioned earlier in my IVIS postings as key to IT innovation.   However,  without INTEGRATION, the business value of DATA and PROCESS becomes more limited.

Specifically, being viewed as the corporate DATA “single source of truth” and being the key PROCESS knowledge repository is key for IT leaders but INTEGRATION has the most direct correlation with ROI and business value.  INTEGRATION is critical not only internally but externally as well with customers, partners, vendors, channels, etc. and is where a business will differentiate itself in terms of its agility.

The more “openly integrated” IT can make a business, the more value for both the business and for IT.
