After an earlier LinkedIn post on startup Lufa Farms Inc. ( http://lufa.com/en/), I saw this http://freightfarms.com/.
Disruption happens everywhere…think of the impact this could have on agriculture, on retail (grocers, restaurants, CPG, et al) and their traditional channels, supply/demand chains, transportation logistics…..and IT systems and processes.
Is there an existing G2500 company in a related industry doing innovation mapping to see how they could benefit from the success of these firms? The oppty could be enormous, think of car rental industry, Zipcar or its “adjacent possible” innovation (e.g. RelayRides).

From this survey, courtesy of Internap (inserted below):
Nearly three-quarters of respondents also cited interest in using an online portal to hybridize colocation with other IT infrastructure services, such as cloud and hosting. This affirms the growing need for a holistic view and seamless management across all data center services, combining the capex and control benefits of colocation with the opex and agility benefits of cloud.
Although this comment does not specifically mention on-prem datacenters, either traditional capex models or self-hosted virtual private cloud models, the traditional models technology management/monitoring should also be evolved into this single portal to allow CIOs to evolve from IT operators to IT brokers. Bolt ITFM, including evolved CMDB concepts, on-top of this portal and you have technology business management (TBM, or ITFM v2.0).
Only in embracing this approach will CIOs and IT provide requisite value in the future to their business units, including to enterprise CMOs.
